John Angée (b. 1958, Medellín, Colombia) is a monumental sculptor and architect based in Miami since 1983, bringing over 30 years of professional practice to the Run Art Inside collective. His academic credentials include a BFA, a Master of Architecture from Florida International University (FIU), and studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (ENSBA) in Paris.
Angée is represented by Kavachnina Contemporary gallery and has received significant public commissions, most notably Flight to Freedom (2012) for the City of Coral Gables through the prestigious 1% For the Arts program. His work is held in the collection of the South Florida Museum of Hispanic Art, and he has received an official recommendation from the Miami-Dade County Trust (2026).
With four works in the Run Art Inside catalogue — including Passages (Corten Steel), Escultura Luz Azul (Brushed Aluminum), Metal Base Hormigón, and The Flight to Freedom (Stainless Steel, 114×40 ft) — Angée has the largest representation in the collection. His versatility across materials (corten steel, stainless steel, brushed aluminum) and scales demonstrates exceptional range.
Angée’s background in architecture informs his sculptural practice, resulting in works that engage with space, structure, and public context in ways that distinguish him within the contemporary sculpture landscape.
